We can’t see friends or family interstate or attend funerals without begging for permission, this country is a disgrace and until we wake up and start pushing back nothing will happen.

On the up side, we have fewer funerals to attend than other countries.

Yeah you could or everybody could stop reading social media for their misinformation and conspiracy theories, do as they're told, stay home, wear a mask and stop finding loopholes for excuses to act like petulant children and then the virus wouldn't be spreading through NSW being carried by people who think that the rules don't apply to them.. I don't like wearing a mask, or staying at home (for reasons outlined at the start of this) but I do it when asked because I can see that in places where the population (largely) complies, the lockdowns are significantly shorter. Take the Byron Bay lockdown as the perfect example of finding any loophole to be an arrogant dickhead. Drove from Sydney to Byron Bay to "view property". Even if it was allowed, common sense should have suggested that its not a intelligent choice of activity during a lockdown situation. You also might need to be looking a little bit further than the end of your nose. Every country that started opening up is now experiencing an upturn in cases and deaths and many are starting to reimpose restrictions. Is that what you want? or don't you care? Personally I think NSW is already totally and completely screwed and its going to take a months return to "normal". Victoria is teetering on the edge and can still go either way. Christmas is not going to be a happy time for a large percentage of the population.

I work in the Canterbury Bankstown area near the border with Liverpool, and the level of non-complaince within the different ethnic groups out here is the problem, some of it is intentional, some is not. Some of it is because a lot of people out here that have been here most of their lives still don't speak English. (Girl at work her inlaws are greek and have been here more than 60 years, still only watch greek TV, read greek newspapers etc and cant speak functional english) that's not helping. Then you have the ones from a background where they don't trust anything the govt says (but are happy to take centrelink) and then the Middle Eastern Gangsters and wannabe's that simply dont give a rats and still doing as they please. Other cultural groups simply will not stop visiting family, they say "its in their culture" like they are the only culture that cares about their extended family. And these are the ones that still think they are doing the right thing. FFS.

Christmas is not going to be a happy time for a large percentage of the population. I think you need to take a step back and look at the massive wins that NSW is now having. If you had no cases, you'd be way down on the vaccinations compared to what you are now having. For example. On current Vaccination rates (double doses) NSW will hit 70% in 82 days 80% in 99 days (A full month earlier than Victoria) Whereas Vic will hit 70% in 99 days 80% in 120 days This is amazing for NSW and you will be open and enjoying freedom way before a locked down Victoria and god help WA. Think about them. They are more f*cked than all other states in Australia. McClown refuses to accept any cases. Whats he going to do once they hit 80% (Current tracking says 120 Days) vaccinated and then they get a case? He will probably do a hard lockdown like Liverpool and Melbourne are currently in. The Data all says you in NSW will be enjoying a family XMAS. Even worse than all of Australia is New Zealand. They will be locked down for at least another 12 months. Currently they ave 800,000 fully vaccinated. Pop is 5 million.

The Data all says you in NSW will be enjoying a family XMAS. Got to disagree (again). You're thinking more like a politician than a statistian. At the current rate of infection, NSW will be recording 1000+ new cases every day leading in to Xmas. All the ICU beds will be full, and there will be 10 or more people dying every day. Just because they want to get to 80% vaccinated by Oct/Nov, doesn't mean the short term numbers are going to hit the "pause" button. And even if they do get to 80% , it'll be out of control in the other 20%.

NSW will only get freedom when (and only when) the number of days people are contagious in the community is zero. I still think that vaccination is not the "Get out of jail free" card that so many people are expecting. I hope I'm wrong but theres nothing in the data that I've seen (either here or OS) to support that theory.

Previously kids weren't getting/transmitting it, but this Delta variant seems to have changed the game. Has that changed the landscape in terms of required numbers? I've been waiting to see exponential growth in the NSW numbers and have been surprised it hasn't happened. Or is it that it's slowly creeping that way and will get to 1000+ in time? I know little about statistics or how it works, so I am genuinely interested.

What do you consider freedom?I consider it as kids at schools. 50% in offices able to get into a swimming pool or gym bars we won’t be back to 2018 times for 4 years probably. but you will be spending Xmas at a family members house by Xmas. In nsw.

So what’s mcclown going to do at 70%.
Allow flights to land?
Or keep doing what he’s been doing?

You are so in correct, at 70% you would expect to be open up as it’s only the unvaccinated who have chosen to be unvaccinated and the minority should not be telling the majority what to do. If McGowan choose to lockdown at 70% you watch the backlash. It won’t be pretty I can assure you of that

If McGowan choose to lockdown at 70% you watch the backlash. It won’t be pretty I can assure you of that You do know that the pathway out of covid being followed by the federal cabinet anticipates lockdowns even after 80% vaccination. (thats Phase C for those playing at home - we're still in Phase A) And the OS real world data suggests that 70% vaccination is nowhere near enough vaccinations to be opening up. Most of those countries that did so are now struggling with increasing case numbers. We can either learn from their mistakes or have their history repeat here. from Page 3 of Doherty Modelling Report for National Cabinet 30 July 2021

I say....
Countries with high vaccination have far lower hospitalisations per case and deaths are way down.
From what I've seen, Australia loses its minds about cases as opposed to the severity of outbreaks. ACT locked down after one case? Seriously?
To put it into perspective, a country that went from 30% vaccinate to 75% vaccinated went from 0.01 cases per test to 0.0025 cases per test. Now, that country has a very regimented, compulsory testing regimen. Australia only tests if you were at Bunnings last Wednesday.
Again. Good luck y'all.

This will come and no surprise but I’m done with the lockdowns I no longer care. I don’t wear masks outdoors anymore I go way beyond 5km riding and even went to a mates place for dinner last night about 30km away. I am double vaxed. I’ll NEVER get tests unless I have to for travel. I have done what has been asked for over 16 months. I stopped yesterday. I’ve chosen to live with covid like the rest of the world outside of Australia and New Zealand. And like always. I don’t care what anyone else thinks.

So with 390+ new cases announced today, and ( from The Age ): "Almost 400 people are now in hospital with COVID-19, with 63 cases in intensive care and 30 of these people requiring ventilation. Of the 63 in ICU, ten are aged under 40." I'll stick with my prediction of a 1000+ cases leading into Xmas. Must admit I do feel a bit sorry for Gladys considering what she has to cater to. When Victorians go into lockdown they are generally (95+% ) compliant. In NSW there is definitely a much higher % of the population that feel "rules" don't apply to them.( And that can be any type of rule: the number of drivers that have overtaken me on the hwy doing 140kph has absolutely astounded me 🥴😆😆)

The fed government purchased 5500 ventilators last year.
So 30 people using them shouldn’t matter given what they were preparing for.

It puzzles me that you're so comfortable with people dying and requiring ventilation. Perhaps you don't appreciate the reality of ventilation. Surely you're not as heartless as you seem.
Anyway, I am aware you care little for what anyone thinks. Mine is a simple observation.

From what I've seen, Australia loses its minds about cases as opposed to the severity of outbreaks. ACT locked down after one case? Seriously? Yes. And it makes perfect sense. It was one case, but it was from an unknown origin, and the person had been out in the community. So while "it is only one case" and lockdowns announced to start 6 hours after announcement, by the time we were in lockdown, it was four cases, and within 24 hours it was 6 cases. ACT from a 'state' perspective has the highest population density, and from a city limits population perspective is still quite high compared with Greater Sydney and Greater Melbourne. just like the other states, the choices are Lockdown hared and early, and get through it quicker, or drag your feet and end up with 300 cases a day in a few weeks. While first dose vaccinations are higher per capita, the ACT is still no where near herd immunity (which is usually quoted at 70%, but expects efficacy of 90+%, where as for the current strain, efficacy is sitting around the 50-60% mark, which means 90+% vaccination rate is required, and those rates usually assume all population, not "population we will vaccinate" ie. most of the quoted numbers are age 18+, and ignore 20% of the population, those under the age of 18. As always, Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics.)

Act is nsw. They can only continue to get cases now.
They have just been lucky to have none until now.
