So Cam decided to do his own solo Tour Du Andorra yesterday - basically climbing every Col in and around Andorra - ended up doing 300km, with 9,500M of vertical climbing in over 13 hours in the saddle. The day before was a triple swim day, logging in around 10,000M in the pool. I guess today will probably be a double marathon. … Of course no possibility of doping here unlike with Ditlev...just a stud of an athlete... Just taking the piss TBH and don't think he is dirty but if people are going to raise eyebrows he would have to be the first one to look at Seems a very curious observation to make. A guy who was an Olympian aged 20 in one of the most VO2 max intensive international sports of all; who has got a 25 year base in endurance sports; who hasn’t don’t anything ‘red flag’ worthy, like producing a FTP of around 478 watts for example … and your ruminations are … well if anyone is on the juice … he’d be the first one to look at … FMD.

Stop dancing around and state that you believe Ditlev is on PEDS, all based on a number he produced on an indoor trainer...lol Are you worried about being sued for slander??? Incidentally, I dont know of any Pros nor triathlete journalists who have even raised an eyebrow over Ditlevs stated ftp, nor his brilliant performances. He has been producing excellent cycling performances since he was 20 starting triathlon. Some people are just gifted while others have to work their butts off. As for Wurf, I think KenKong was just highlighting the fact that Wurf has had a rapid rise in the pro cycling ranks, which could equally be considered suspect, and is involved in from a sport (cycling) that is blatantly known for systematic doping, so just because Wurf doesn't show an equal FTP, doesn't mean squat. I personally believe triathlon is relatively clean bar maybe some in the lower pro rankings, as they have the most to gain. So no, I dont believe personally Wurf is on the 'juice' but he would definitely raise more suspicions than many others.

“ Wurf has had a rapid rise in the pro cycling ranks”
What rapid rise? Cadel - who was something of mentor - blocked his BMC contract negotiations at the end of 2009 - three years after he switched full time to cycling - and it wasn’t for another 2 years before he got picked up by a Pro Tour team. So he’d had five years experience before getting that contract. Thereafter he was only ever used as a domestique. You are entitled to your own opinions, just not your own facts.
As for wurf: he has been measured with a FTP - both in international rowing - and cycling in the low 400watts range. Which is typical for elites in both sports.
No I not afraid of being sued for defo. Why should I be? What issue am I skirting around? I’m not implying, let alone accusing Ditlev of anything. However, a 503 W 20 minute FTP test is worth scrutinising for a whole range of reasons. It is something like 75 watts - or 17.5% - greater than what THE NEXT BEST GUY - who has the same weight as him and who actually out split him on the bike in their last two PTO races - can do.

The Norwegians have arrived in Andorra and spent yesterday training with Cam, including a 5 hour ride and a lazy 2 hr run to cap off the day. Is Blu thinking of changing the plan after Singapore and racing Nice? Is Iden? Intriguing.

Wurf seems to have done most of his big volume training now, including 7 weeks straight of swimming between 20 and 25km per week, and running between. 100 and 120km per week for 6 out of the last seven weeks (in two three week blocks). I notice from his strava feed that most of those weeks include one double speed session day - usually 6 to 8 eight-minute efforts at 3.30 min/km pace (so around 2.3km per rep) in the morning with 8-12 1km reps on the treadmill in the evening at around 3.15-3.20 pace. he’s also done a number of long brick sessions with Hayden Wilde - which appear to be something like 1hr TT @ 45kmh/5-10km run at 3.45 min/km pace times three.
This week he’s back on the tools for INEOS- doing the Hamburg Classic (208km) last Sunday and the five stage Renewi Tour starting tonight (and seemingly keeping iup the swimming and running). Other that I presume he’ll just be sharpening the axe ahead of Nice.

This is his chance to get a podium and if he can’t do it here it will never happen. If he did manage to get a podium, I doubt there would be enough room on the plane home for him and his ego Luckily for him he drove down from Andorra in a large pick up truck. So heaps of room for his family, dog, gear, huge trophy and ego for the drive home if it comes to that I did ask him about his thinking behind this session, given that it incorporates about 8km of extra volume than his typical mid week run before an ironman AND includes an actual workout. He said that there was heaps of recovery between reps, so ‘the work’ component was actually similar to his typical hitout - where he might just sit on 3.45 pace for 8-9km out of twelve. Pressing him a bit further he confirmed what I suspected: he has been keying in on being as efficient running at 3:30-45 pace now, as he was running 3:45-4:00npace back in 2019 when he ran three ironman marathons between 2:45-50hrs. So, we shall see whether he can execute a marathon on Sunday at an average of sub 2:50min/km pace. …even with a lead off the bike he’s going to have to nudge 2.40hrs to be competitive.

mmm,So Cam Wurf, in his NICE wrap-up, in the latest podcast with Jack Kelly, reckons he came off the bike during one of the descents. Strange that he then said that no one else was around at the time, and then he also said he cleaned himself up at the next aid station. Also strange, his strava doesn't show it. No dips in power, no change in speed.....
So he said he was okay, lost some time, got back in his bike,, which strangely had nil damage, but he felt it during the run, and this cost him a podium.
Based on the above, Sorry, I cal BS. Just another excuse from the Wurf book of excuses.

He emptied the tank alright KK. … and then some, lols. 💩
And Prince, his Strava does show a one minute discrepancy between his moving time and elapsed time. So there is that. Unlikely that data on it would show up actual stoppages, as he uses the ‘simple’ strava version (like I do) and my strava never shows up the times i stop on a ride (other than to show a discrepancy between moving and elapsed time).
Speaking of Wurf and Strava, after he did that Podcast with Jack he then went and did a double brick workout and set a life time PB for a 10km run - 35 minutes. In the interview with Jack he mentioned he was planning on doing some late season races, but Jack was too busy blowing smoke up his arse to ask the obvious follow up questions: which races and what are his goals for those races? I suspect he is aiming for an early Kona qualifier and probably feels he has a good ironman marathon in those legs to unleash. An obvious target would be IM Portugal, and perhaps finish off the year at IMWA, given that he planning on bringing his family to australia for an Aussie xmas this year. But who knows? Jack didn’t probe Cam. Nor did he try to lock him in to an ‘official’ announcement that he has in fact resigned with INEOS next year. …
Whilst entertaining, the podcast interview was a missed opportunity, and devolved into a Jack fan boy episode (like most of Jack’s work).

nup, so he came off his bike, no visible marks on him, not a scratch, no, dirt marks, no one was around (which I also call bs as currie and ditlev were always seconds away from him), got back on his bike, which had not a scratch, all in a minute. Cmon, its total bs and you know it. The riding time and elapsed Time was probably when he started his computer or stopped it at transition. Excuse number 45....
the arrogance of the guy thinking that he would have podiumed....please.

Whatevers Prince. From my own experience in bike stacks one of the worst injuries I’ve suffered was when i when arse over tit and landed square on my arse without leaving any viable marks on my legs or arms or even bike kit. And my bike was 100% fine. … however I developed a massive bruise on my arse the next day, which is what happens when a single point of contact absorbs all the kinetic energy upon impact. Further, Ditlev was ahead and by that stage of the bike Currie had completely dropped off. Wurf was also 1 minute ahead of Mignon at the top of the final descent as well. …
Also, i didn’t hear him say ‘I would have podiumed’, rather he was lamenting a missed opportunity to contest for a podium on the run. In fact he seemed to blame more the disorganised final preparation weeks - following his call up to the team for the Renewi tour - rather than the actual crash itself. So there is that, as well.
Anyways, talk is cheap. Unless he comes out and runs a 2.40 ironman marathon in his next race, I also call bullsh!t on his chases of podiuming in Nice. In fact, you might recall my consistent position has been that if he had his ‘best day’ he could expect a top 5 finish at best. In review, his ‘best day’ would have meant getting out of the water with Ditlev, working with Magnus & co for the whole bike, hence getting off the bike a net 3-4 minutes ahead of when he did and then running a 2.45ish marathon. Which would have been excellent, but only enough to potentially keep Chavelier out of 5th.

Finished third.
Javier and Braden both DNFed.
Wurf was cycling with the winner - Nick Thompson - with a ~6min gap to third with ~20km to go on the bike when Cam suffered a rear puncture and rode the last 20km on the rim. Lost 5:30. While Mitch Kibby put two minutes into him in the run, he basically ran the same split as the winner. A shame really because it would have been an epic battle for the win without the puncture. He seemed pretty chuffed with his efforts on Insta. While his 1:18 half marathon is ‘slow’, Thompson - who incidentally ran a 1:12s at both the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne 70.3 (and also a very competitive 1:13 at 70.3 worlds in Finland) - also clocked a 1:18. The run course looked very hilly. That is also Cam’s PB for a 70.3 run. (By about 3 minutes).
I haven’t seen him on any start listed for INEOS yet, and it doesn't look like he’s in for the Tour of the UAE - so I wonder if he’s building for a Kona Qualification in Taupo before doing the later Spring Classics again. Maybe with that stage race in Italy thorn into the mix at the end on March.

Agree a real shame to see what might have transpired, but thats racing. Don't forget that this course is a tough bike course so will put some sting in the legs for the run and there is a little up and down on the run. Was a great effort, and wet roads for some of it.

He would be one of the highest ranked Ironman athletes not to score a PTO contract wouldn't he? apart from Joe and Lang. So he may do okay and could score the Bonus if he chooses his calendar eg, race some ironmans around the 2nd-4th PTO race dates as i am thinking those dates might be the stacked fields. I don't reckon the 1st race in Miami will be and i reckon the majority (pro athletes) will line up at London, Ibiza, California and Singapore. Just my guessing.

I don't reckon the 1st race in Miami will be and i reckon the majority (pro athletes) will line up at London, Ibiza, California and Singapore. Just my guessing. A PTO contract is inconsistent with his INEOS contractual obligations, as he has to be ‘on call’ to slot into the team at short notice; plus - according to his various interviews on the subject - be available for a series of scheduled races as well. Especially in the northern springtime. Besides which, the PTO contracts are only worth an average of $75K pa - probably half what INEOS pays him as a salary (not to mention picking up the tab to fly him and his family around the world for training, triathlons and cycling racing). I think the period of the second to fourth PTO races (April - July) will have hugely stacked fields for the alternative ironman series races, and my best guess is that IF he is available he will look to get his Kona qualification slots at one of the ironman races that fall outside the Ironman Tour. I reckon that New Zealand (2 March - 3 slots), South Africa (mid April - 4 slots), Australia - Port Mac (May - 1 slot) are all good options, depending on what INEOS want him to do. I reckon that NZ is probably the best one, as INEOS may not need him until mid March (now that he isn’t doing the Tour of UAE and he wasn’t required for the Tour Down Under). Also I think he’s got a three weeks Sufferfest camp in LA starting this week with Gerraint: perfect training opportunity for him to log back-to-back-to-back 20km swim weeks (with coach Jerry Rodrigues at Tower 26) - 600km+ cycle weeks and 100km run weeks before having an easy week (flying overnight to Auckland early in race week). The way he’s been building training in Tasmanian (up to 15-20k swimming, 300-500km cycling and 70-85km running) during January tells me that he’s ready to make the next step up again for a 3 week block of ironman training with G (like he usually does in January each year anyways). A 1:18 half marathon split tells me he’s close to being in shape to run a 2.45 marathon in Taupo. Which would be enough to qualify for Kona, surely. as for PTO wildcard entries, he won’t get one when the Olympics are over because the PTO will be super keen to get the likes of Wilde, Yee and the Frenchmen on the start line. California in June may be his best bet; but I reckon Lionel will probably put his hand up for one - and be picked before Cam.

Whilst I would love to see him in NZ, I think he is heading to SA. I don’t think so. The SA race is actually scheduled for mid April this year. There are just too many professional cycling events in Europe this April for INEOS to permit him to race an ironman that month. If the team doesn’t need him until mid March (and there ARE a bunch of Italian stage races and one day classics in mid March that he has ridden for the team in the past, which would segue nicely into Roubaix, other one day races and then doing the Tour of Romandie/reserve rider status for the Giro) then doing NZ on 3 March on the back of his current LA training camp before heading home to Andorra to start his spring pro tour cycling duties a couple of weeks later would make the most sense. Otherwise, I actually don’t think we will see him racing an ironman before June or July.

Well, that is that: Wurf is not on the start list for IM NZ. files.constantcontact.com/a202847d001/1ad01c54-347d-4e4c-a5c5-5936c24d6c1d.pdfI haven’t seen any INEOS team updates as to their roster for upcoming Protour races in Spring. According to Strava he doesn’t yet appear to be doing big volume whilst in LA for the past week and a half - either one the bike (indicating an upcoming pro cycling race block) or swimming or running (indicating a forthcoming ironman is just around the corner). Gerraint doesn’t appear to be in town either. He’s just ticking things over in training and doing LA kind of stuff (Pinerello bunch rides, hanging with celebs and finance types according to his Insta posts). So, my best guess is that the team are keeping him back for a late spring race block and as I alluded to above, we probably won’t see him racing Ironmans until June or July. That being said, to the extent he is training I notice that he his doing a fairly solid block of speed work on the run, so something might be around the corner. As the last man resigned with INEOS last year, maybe the team have given him a leave pass until after April and he’s set to do races such as Oceanside, IM SA or IM Texas; maybe even accept a PTO wildcard - but I doubt it. No way they are going to pay him a salary without him earning his keep one way or the other (maybe they are holding him back so he can be the ‘road captain’ at their pre giro and pre tour training camps - like they used him between 2017-19 when he wasn’t actually on the race roster).

Actually, according to the ‘pro cycling stats’ website the team have him penciled in for the Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne classic on 25 February, but nothing else. Given the other riders that he is bracketed next to for that race, he may likely be required to do a series of one day races in northern France and the Low Countries until mid April. After that? It seems that INEOS have picked their teams (plus reserves) for both the Giro and Tour and Wurf isn’t on those lists. … an intriguing possibility though is that after his spring campaign he might be given a leave pass over the northern summer to nail a Kona qualifying slot (and plenty of options there ranging from IM Cairns all the way through to Frankfurt) but then do the Vuelta (which ruins from mid August this year), which would still leave him a full seven weeks for a specific Kona preparation.
Maybe he could do IM Cairns in June, Vittoria in July with IM Lake Placid as a final chance back up race.

Wurf out of Paris-Roubaix. Was originally announced but got bumped by Tom Pidcock yesterday when Tom was cleared by team medical after a pretty bad accident a week ago.
Wurf is only putting some bike workouts on Strava at the moment. No swimming for 2 months (he told me his watch broke, lol) and no running for a month. His Insta feed sometimes shows him swimming, so I’m guessing he’s switched from Garmin Forerunner to another brand and hasn’t synced it with Strava. But maybe he’s injured or gone into stealth mode regarding his training and triathlon plans. He started the year pretty strong, so I’m guessing that unless he’s injured he is cracking on and upping the volume under the radar. The team are only using him for one day races at the moment: no stage races. Maybe they are saving him for training camps - which was the original plan when they signed him in the first place: get him to use his diesel engine to put each of the Grand Tour Squads through their paces in their key training camps, and only racing as the ‘’last man up’ when they need to fill a roster at the last moment.
His insta had him being fitted for a brand new Bolide Triathlon TT on Wednesday, and he took it for a 100 mile ride overnight. So he must have something on the radar …
