Leaning towards the Riff, but don't really mind who wins it as it won't be Melbourne

The way it’s going it will be the team who still has 13 standing at the end. Brutal first 40 mins.
Would prefer the panfers to get up.

Everyone that backed south’s to score more points than their supporters have teeth is cheering. They can cash out at 8.

How does the #NRL survive into the next decade?
In the last 24 hours alone…
• Ponga’s excuses don’t add up. • Norman gives the thumbs up. • Brett Finch is a sick f•ck.

How does the #NRL survive into the next decade? In the last 24 hours alone… • Ponga’s excuses don’t add up. • Norman gives the thumbs up. • Brett Finch is a sick f•ck. Footballers have been dickheads since 1908. Only difference now is that everything they do is plastered across social media. The NRL will struggle to survive but not because of the 3 things you've outlined. IMHO these are the more likely reasons why... 1. Its as boring as batsh!t. 2. Signed contracts mean absolutely nothing in the real scheme of things. 3. The Bunker. Worst decision ever made in the NRL was the creation of the bunker...and thats even taking into account some of the absolute howlers the bunker has made this year alone. Probably best if they took the refs and former players out of the bunker and put a few average joe punters in. They'll probably get more decisions right. 4. Players determining whether coaches stay or go. 5. Gus Gould

NRL funding must be doing alright if they can afford to throw away $10m and get absolutely nothing to replace it. NSW didn't even have to commit to the stadium funding that they'd already committed to (twice). Apparently its still "under discussion"

Time we had something more positive on the top of the front page:
Are the Sharks the real deal this year?
Any other Phins fans on here? Was rapt to get the founding membership for the club I supported from when I knew about rugby. Liking alot of what I'm seeing this year.

Yes, we have reached that point in the season where Sharks fans start to dare to dream. Once again the Sharks will find new and exciting ways to implode and disappoint their fans, so they can once again state "maybe next year"

Could be worse. You could be a South Sydney supporter.

f*ck ya's all.
Did the Storm in Melbourne with no Nicho and an 8-4 penalty count against us.
Talking of the Shire, was hoping to see Jabb's here yesterday at the Byron Bay Tri as I noticed the famous Tony Unicomb name on the start list. Don't think he came though. Just as well, worst race conditions I've ever done and a bloke who has done over 500 races including many IMs said the same. Absolutely pissed rain the entire race, road narrowed to 2 small centre lanes in sections with bikes coming at each other inches apart in belting rain. Scary grey foggy ocean - bull shark heaven. 3 inch puddles and mud on the run. Saw several runners slip down a small embankment at the run turn.
Wouldn't swap it for quids though - character building and everyone hung tough and got through with only a few bike stacks and no-one off to hospital....I don't think.
Of course the Mrs' team won the female sprint section AGAIN with her cycling, our youngest running. She won't ride if there is any chance of one rain drop, so she had to suck it up yesterday and had a quicker ride than me (I did the whole thing) and fastest ride in their cat by 5 minutes! Not bad at 62 and their swimmer was 59, with our 29yo daughter. Beat all the young pups.

Think despite the penalty count (which was not aware of), the refs gave a big hand in that send off to the Sharkies.
Really interesting calls from the refs on some very soft incidents over the round. Turbo's captains challenge in the Manly game with the bunker deeming an open hand being landed on was head high was the other main one. Both refs need a bit of further education and support
What are the prices to attend games in the northern states? Looking at booking seats for a game at AAMI park in Melbourne at the moment - $30+ dollars for standing room ticket, $77 for a reserved seat. Haven't been to a game for a fair while, but they seem a bit high when you add food and beverages onto them

IN a season that has had a multitude of incomprehensible refereeing decisions, I'm calling that the Softest penalty and Sin Bin I've ever seen in Rugby league in the 50+ years I've been watching the game

There was no intent at all. Could not believe it was a penalty let alone 10mins in the bin.
