The biggest news item today must be that Emma, the yellow Wiggle has quit. The ABC news website has 3 articles on their front page about this. Good on her, it must have been a tough gig following on after the originals and she did it with style and grace by making the role her own. But I'm not sure which I find more offensive 1. That a fairly decent sized portion of the population has become so celeb obsessed to make this an automatic Front page/Top of Page/Lead story promo in the first place or... 2. That every "news" editor knows it and continue to feed it to us like a drug dealer feeding a junkie.

It surprised me to see it on the ABC website.
It is "normal" to see Bachelor/SAS/Masked Singer/Football WAG "news" at the top of the commercial news websites.
Traditional journalism needs to find a funding model which will support quality investigative journalism.

To be fair anyone under about 50 or 60 who has kids will have spent a lot of their lives heavily invested in the wiggles. My kids couldn't get enough of it and therefore by either sitting/ playing with the kids or by osmosis you get to know every song, every character, every DVD start to finish and word for word.
I once said to someone I knew I was a parent when I dropped my daughter at kindy, then drove another 20 mins towards works before I realised I was still listening to the Wiggles CD and singing along.

I'm sure if Emma identified as anything other than female they would have, but she doesn't so ....... Another thread where you are trying to bring in gender debate by stealth. If you want to discuss gender, start a thread and grace us with your enlightened opinion.

Our kid's had to listen to Motorhead in the car. Best driving music. Wise selection!
