So what's peoples thoughts on supplements to support joint health? Do any actually work or are they snake oil? Is running on grass much better than road/concrete? Do you rotate your sneakers?
What do you do to look after old tired knees?

There is some evidence glucosamine and chondroitin have some effect in supporting joint health.
And yes, strength work is the key. Muscles are integral in keeping joints safe, ligaments are the next line of defence, then the cartilage is the absolute last line of defence. Keep the stabilising muscles strong and you'll keep your knees (same for any other joint) safe and healthy. As a general rule.
I don't like running on grass as it's typically mown to a flat surface which hides an inconsistent surface. I like trails and bitumen best with trails being my favourite as lateral movement is often required rather than a simple straight line which encourages activation of stablising muscles.

Need to give myself an uppercut

I should be all over the glucosamine, as I'm already getting arthritis in my hands, and stuffed knees. But I struggle with swallowing tablets, and glucosamine tablets are always like swallowing a timtam whole, and not half as tasty.

I have been stuck on a mine site for 8 months now. The tread on my Hoka running shoes has worn away and there are holes in the upper. I am much sorer after a run and need longer to recover now that they are old.
AP is a big fan of gelatin. The evidence for the positive effects of gelatin is not conclusive. Personally I think that gelatin works for me for joint health. It definitely strengthens my nails. It does not have any negatives.
