A week after the 'mostly peaceful' Oscars ceremony this still seems to be the big talking point
What's right? What's wrong? What's left? What the hell is going on?

If you were at a work function like Will Smith was and did that to another employee, you’d be sacked instantly and struggle to work again.
If you were a multimillionaire, its okay To hit someone and get away with it.

At first I didn't get it at all until the hair loss condition issue came out, so the joke was a bit off, but even so.

Does the fact that it was a "joke" mean its OK to poke fun at the expense somebody with a disease? Of course it isn't. Chris Rock wouldn't have had the balls to make that joke if she had cancer and the hair loss was due to Chemo. And whether it's deemed right or wrong by todays society, Chris Rock got what he deserved.
As far as I'm concerned, the only person entitled to make jokes about Jade Pickett-Smiths condition is ... Jade Pickett-Smith.

Apparently Will isn't getting off scot-free. He's being sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Bel Air

I reckon he lost way more cred than Rock.

Chris Rock has done nothing besides play the victim (from what I've seen). He deserved a swift clip around the ears to remind him of his manners and thats what he got. Will Smith did it because I seriously doubt that anybody else was going to.

He could have just yelled out from his seat that the joke was poor taste & for Rock grow up. You don't belt people for stupid words that come out of their mouths, only for physical threats.

Chris rock claimed he didn’t know about her condition. And I believe him. I didn’t. How many people watching did?
And I like this.
“I would not have made a joke about his wife’s hair. I would have made a joke about her boyfriend.”- @rickygervais

And if he really didn't know then that just makes him a bigger dick for making a joke about somebodies appearance without knowing the fact. It might have been cancer victim that he's just make a hair loss joke about.

The joke was in poor taste and I don't believe him that he didn't know about her hair loss.
But... Smith was completely out of line. He went up and smacked him one as he was embarrassed that he had initally been caught laughing and saw his wife wasn't happy with the joke or him laughing at it so over-reacted. I also believe that he is genuinely sorry. He grew up in a house with domestic violence so would be very ashamed of himself right now.
