So, this web page has been a huge part of my online interaction and many great friends made.
It's been a few decades since the OZ Chat forum folded which was the giver if birth to trannies and then this.
Sound off as to where you are. What's up?

I am here and have been around in the early days, when the original Kamahl was unmasked by Ken Baggs in Forster one year. I completed 6 IM's in Forster with my last in 2002, then hit the ciggys, got pretty unfit for the next 15 years and have been on the comeback trail since. Bike and swim are almost back to the times in the early days, i.e 1 hr swim, 6 hr bike, but can't run for the life of me as yet, when running was my strength.

It's been a few decades since the OZ Chat forum folded which was the giver if birth to trannies and then this. Sound off as to where you are. What's up? After an injury enforced retirement from Triathlon (and most active sport) in 2010, I've spent the last 12 years in Brisvegas. Currently determining the best path forward to a retirement of travel. At this stage it'll hopefully in the next 5 years but a few recent changes in circumstances have meant that timeline is likely to be extended out 2 or 3 years. Eldest cub moved out a few weeks ago and will be spending Christmas day at his girlfriends parents places (one for lunch and one for dinner) and youngest cub will be spending (at least) lunch at his girlfriends mothers place. So for the first time ever, Christmas Day looks like it'll just be me and the Koala Bear. Will have to find somewhere nice to go for lunch.

Can't remember when I joined Trannies, I think it was mid 2002, I do remember it was just before NSW Club Champs one year. Been in the UK for over 10 years now, lots of TTing, bike racing and some IM stuff. Switch to ultras to qualify for UTMB a few years ago. (qualified but didn't get a lottery spot). Still doing ultras (slowly) but having a bash at IM Wales next Sept, which will be my first tri in 5 yrs at that point. (IM Wales 2018). My goal is still to crack 100 miles in under 30 hrs.
Have a nearly 9yr daughter in tow now and she's lighting up the Jnr running world locally, down to 24.22 for 5km now and showing her old man up!

My HIM triathlon obsession came to a screaming halt in April 2012 with an injury that took 5-6 yrs to solve. Then tried to slowly get back to it, but various running injuries have meant I've really only been able to swim and cycle the past 4-5 yrs. Still working on a return to running however. Doing triathlons as a team and aquabike is better than nothing, but running was my strength & I loved doing to whole thing. Kid's have left home, lots more disposal income available so we do lots of hols, including cycling tours (my Mrs is a cyclist & runner but refuses to swim). Both shifting towards semi-retirement over the next 3-5yrs with the aim to travel more. Youngest daughter is getting back into a little tri training in Brissy with the aim of doing the Sprint when we go to the Fiji Tri Festival in June. Long term goal is for us to do an HIM or IM together.

Hey mate, long time no hear. Are you still looking after those planes in the UAE ? I am still towing the line in Tris but the last IM was the last in Forster - 2005. Next year will be 34 years since I started. I have been completing around six a year, ranging from Oly to HIMs. Have completed a number of Tour de Cure rides as well, raising much needed funds for cancer development, education and support. I built a new house in 2015 near Camden NSW (60 kms south-west of Sydney). Retired now with a grandchild and another due today. As the body is still sort of OK, I have 3 races entered for early next year so far (1/60/10; 2/62/15; 1.9/90/21). Golf has also been a regular "sport" activity for me as well as a few holidays. Skin cancer still knocks me around but am keeping them at bay so far. FM Here's a couple of photos - the 2nd is when Kamahl was unmasked.

Looking at other options however. Great to hear you are doing well. Also great to see on the main forum the beer mile is in full swing. We will never work out who the anonymous donor of the beer was for all those years.....

Currently on an indefinate trip travelling around Oz in our caravan. Been on the road for 9 months and presently 5 weeks into a 4 month tour of Tassie. No tri's for me these days thanks to issues with hips and knees. Walk every day and ride every now and again. Trying to get back into running but don't last long before the hips and knees so "no thanks". Haven't worked since we hit the road, but plan is to do so as and when I feel like it. Having said that, currently talking with a fella about a potential opportunity to take on management of a reasonably iconic pub in the Vic High Country. Will know more in the next few weeks, so that could be exciting. If it doesn't come off, we will just keep travelling!
