Insane. Surely the marathon is the best example of elite versus the rest of us. How many people do you know that have done a sub-15 min 5km? Let alone do 8 of them back to back with the slowest being a 14:30?
He did a 13:51 from 30 - 35km and negative split the race!?!?!?!?
I was pretty wrapped to get back under 20mins for 5km.

So is it the runner or is it the shoes? The new Nike shoes look nuts. And then there was the womens Marathon record run in Addas shoes supposedly only good for one Marathon. Taking 3 minutes off the old world record has got to be more than just better training and a good day.

Well, one answer to that last statement could run along the lines of "It's not about the bike" But I shouldn't cast shade. Reality, the shoes will help, no doubt about it, but the shoes alone wont take someone from 4hr to 3hr, and wile they might give a minute or two at the top end at this distance, the runners will still need to be doing a huge amount of work to get to where the shoes will make a difference. (so... Both.)
