I got to do my first IMWA last year and loved it. As for being easy - pffft. Yes by far the fastest I’ve ever gone in an IM, also the hardest I’ve pushed the whole way. Have fun

yes, just for the 70.3 as had to 'downgrade' due to an injury. still testing positive to covid as well, but should be clear in a day or two.

Not this year, but Busso (and Margaret River recovery) is still very much on the to-do list

70.3 for me this year. Looks like a bit of rain forecasted on race day with high temps of 22. But much can change in the next few days.

The rain, which I am also hearing outside as we speak as I prepare for my last ride on the extremely clean TT bike, is not exciting me. The cool is though. I remember last year so much chatter in the lead up about wearing a jacket on the bike, which many did, and I found it just perfect, sans jacket of course. Except the wind. That sucked last year. I'm riding a 50mm on the front and a disc for the first time this year, I am hoping for little wind.

Doesn't seem as though we will have many/any for the Beer Mile. A real shame. I have the BEST costume this year. I'm sad to see is fizzle out. It's almost my favourite part of the week.

Not this year (Although I will admit, I was checking flights on Sunday as a (Very) late entry) Next year is a possible, if I don't get a WC slot, then the plan is Busso full (Which would also be 10 years since I did it the first time)

I'm in for the full, looking forward to seeing some sunshine over the coming days, but not fussed weather wise, albeit certainly been no heat acclimation for me.

According to TriRating Lisa Norden's 4:21 on the bike is the fastest ever over the Iron distance. The Pro's, all over the world, are setting amazing times. 7.3x for the men and 8:2x for the women are the new normal.

He's difficult to miss. Look, it wasn't great. Made plenty of mistakes, got my first ever flat which I repaired on my own, made more mistakes and got a rubbish result which based on the mistakes, was about what I deserved. Second last in my category. That said, I still could picked up a world champs spot had I wanted to go to Nice. Just had to hand over the credit card. Ludicrous. How about you?

Katz,
Whilst you might not have had the best race and made mistakes, you finished. No matter what people say, getting to the start line is half the battle. Getting to the finish line is the cream. A finish is a win. Never discount your effort.
And..... there is always next year.

I've had one reaosnable one (still not Trannies official though) and I was all ready to keep improving on that, but it hasn't happened. I just just keep getting a bit crapper, in spite of trying hard to improve. Starting this year though I have engaged a coach and I am just doing exactly as I am told. Hopefully that might just make all the difference.

You need to be naturallly talented or obsessed to do well m Yep exactly. What I have noticed over many years is the naturally gifted ones can drift in and out of the sport, have years off and then get straight back into being competitive. The rest spend years building their base and performances in tiny increments and each and every "break" or downtime results in massive steps backwards and losses in performance, meaning the only way to "stay in shape" as an average human is as Peter said to be obsessed all day, every day all year round. Dont beat yourself up Katz, we all know you have been through lots of life stuff over the years, added on to the fact that we are not getting younger means that while not impossible, achieving good results as an average human at our stage in life is really freaking hard. To be honest its why I have not returned to any real sport since my hip op. My tri results were "ok" for someone with no natural talent in any of the three sports but they came through lots of years of backing up and going again, having an extended time off due to the lead up and operation meant whatever I decide to de, be it cycling or swimming would mean I would be starting from scratch again and I cbf'd. To be fair I reckon I could be in good enough swim shape to do a few ocean swims in a reasonable time frame, but I just don't enjoy swimming for its own sake. Anyway best of luck Katz, considering all you have achieved in recent years Im sure you have it in you, but the sacrifice needs to be worth it
