So, who's lining up ?
Sprint on Saturday morning (2025 World Qualifying race for the Gong). Sunday is the adjusted normal Nepean (1/30/8) and the new Classic (2/60/16). I am doing the Classic.
I was looking forward to a good race in the lead-up to Port 70.3. However, I had a back spasm 36 hours before Husky (DNS) and 5 days no training, had a big tooth out at the start of March (out of training 3 days), then got bronchitis for the first time in my life for 14 days in March. No training until last week. So, I am about 6 weeks short of where I wanted to be. Nonetheless, I will be there.

I was mustard-level keen for it, but need the run km in the lead up to Port
Having to be sensible is not a good look for me...

With the torrential rain expected tomorrow, it will be interesting to see how the location handles it (flooded streets, potholes, water quality etc). There will be a bit of rain Saturday but expected fine for Sunday.

Surely this ain’t going ahead now.
I’m in for the sprint and the Aquabike. Dunno whether I’ll get the chance to do either by the looks of things though …

The race numbers were down but the course was excellent (for the Regatta Centre). The majority of the roads were smooth, apart for a few dead patches, with only a couple of potholes (marked in pink). The swim visibility was not existent due to the rain. The run was tough in the heat (up to 29C). There were 4 police on trail bikes monitoring the roads, which I have not seen before. Very quiet on the roads.
The 4 legends who have done all the races (40+) had a special covered transition area, had their own wave start and were introduced individually a number of times. That was so cool for them.
I spoke with Eurgene before and after the race (one of the four legends). He was very impressed with the set-up and run of the races from Emo.
One issue was the late start. I got off at 9:55am for the Classic so a long day hot day. The normal Nepean Tri got off about 45 mins earlier. There was supposed to be a cycle race beforehand but this was cancelled (not sure due to lack of entrants or the weather lead up).
One thing that was an eye-opener - I was the oldest male competitor in the Classic race. Mmmmm.....
All in all, another Elite energy professional race. FM
