Buy a new toaster with the FF points.
Support REX if they are more reliable and you want competition.
You'll roll thru customs in minutes from NZ.
The issue will be getting from International to Domestic.
Your luggage has ZERo chance of making it.
Buy some airtags so you can let Qantas know in the days following where your bags are. They wont know

You'll roll thru customs in minutes from NZ. So long as there is no mention of fishing gear

Eldest cub flew from the Gold Coast to Queenstown yesterday on Jetstar
Flight with passengers and baggage departed on time and arrived on time(indeed 10 minutes early).
Seems that as long as you don't travel from a major airport, things are OK.
On the negative side, all the photos he's sent are of him with a different brand of beer in his hand and a different scenery background.

Seems Jetstar are only able to deliver passengers and luggage to selected locations. Routes between major Australian centres appear to be beyond their ability Just received an email from them notifying us of a change to our Brisvegas-Sydney flight in November. We are now apparently booked onto a flight that already been listed as cancelled. I think having a Plan B might be an intelligent idea.

Made it from Arm to NZ with minimal Qantas dramas though in Syd they did taxi away from the gate then went back because some dopey cow forgot to board but her bag was on. Never seen that happen before. Now cycling the Alps to Ocean cycle trail which is not that easy. Apparently many people use an Ebike.

Now booked onto a 3rd Flight albeit at 6:15am instead of our planned 10am flight Noticed Virgin prices for the same day went up $50 while I was trying to sort this out. Already planning to drive for when Jetstar cancels that flight.

We have an extra night in Sydney on the way home because Qantas finally worked out an hour between flights is not enough to make our domestic connection. They say to put in a claim for the extra nights costs. Won't hold our breath for that to be paid.

Saw Berkel made it to kona. But none of his luggage did. And he paid $150 for his bike. It didn’t arrive either.

Claim denied so far, despite 3 others in our group with exactly the same claim being paid. They must have been reading this thread and decided I'm a @*#$% for bagging them Flying back from Sydney on Thurs, a couple were taken off the plane on the tarmac and then ensued a 30min argument with Qantas staff at the bottom of the stairs. Eventually they were let back on and we left, another 30mins late. No idea what that was about? Friends flying Jetstar to NZ for the Queenstown marathon were bumped off their flight. All that training down the sh!tter. How is it you can pay for seats, then get told you can't go?

6 months since we were canceled and left in hawaii for 3 extra days.
Travel insurance for the extra accommodation and taxis to the airport. Canceled once we were thru customs.
Still nothing.
Travel insurance I’ve come to the conclusion is pointless now.

chased up my August travel claim (Qantas) for second time. Actually got a response within 2 hours saying they didn't have any record of initial claim and attached a claim form for me to resubmit. Just did a cut and paste of original claim and resubmitted..... not holding my breath.

After all great experiences, it finally happened. I flew down to Melbourne 70.3 on Friday. I arrived in Melbourne, my bike did not. The bike made it to my hotel at 8pm Saturday night. A late night preparing for the event. 4:45am check in. Glad I flew down on Fri and not Saturday. The event check in manager was awesome in helping me out. I hope this doesn't happen too often. The rural and international flights have never been a problem. But my 2 missing bike experiences have both been issues from Sydney airport to other capitals with Hobart (Jetstar 2016) and now Melbourne. I suppose the hit rate is still not too bad considering how many bags they handle.

Flying CBR->PER on Saturday with the bike for Busso. Qantas tried to change my flight from direct to a stopover in Sydney. I managed to get them to swap back to a direct flight, so hopefully they shouldn't be able to lose my bike. Wish me luck
